American Girl Mini Saige Review

We are back home from camp!  Sorry for the delay in posts, but we were in South Carolina at Fuge camp with our church youth group.  We had an awesome time at camp, but we're glad to be back at home.  A package arrived from Amazon while I was away.   Inside was the long awaited Mini Saige!  I had initially ordered her from Barnes & Noble, which was the only store offering her for pre-order at first.  Then B&N cancelled all their pre-orders.  Not long after the cancellation, Amazon offered her for pre-order.  I then ordered her from Amazon, and they actually shipped her a lot sooner than their expected delivery date.  She arrived in a bubble mailer envelope.

The envelope looked a little rough, but her box inside was in perfect condition.

The back of the box has some details about Saige.  Saige is the first Girl of the Year to ever have a mini doll version.

Here's mini Saige still in her box.  She comes with a mini softcover version of her book.

Right out of the box, this mini Girl of the Year is completely adorable!

Up close, you can see the precious freckles sprinkled across her face.  She has lovely turquoise painted eyes.  Her auburn hair is parted in the center and twisted into a braid.

Saige's auburn braid.

Saige is wearing a royal blue dress with a colorfully embroidered belt.

The back of her dress closes with velcro.  Check out those tiny neckstrings.  So cute.

She is wearing tiny turquoise underwear to contrast with her royal blue dress.

My favorite part of Saige's ensemble is her adorable pair of boots.  They look so realistic.  They are a light brown faux leather with wrap around straps and a tiny metal buckle.  These boots are awesome!

The stitching and the strap and buckle details of these boots are very nicely done.  The boots close in the back with velcro to make them easy to take off and put back on.  They stay on very well though, so you don't have to worry about these boots falling off constantly like some of the other mini doll shoes.

The bottom of the boots have hard soles and a little heel, so Saige can stand easily on her own.  She stands perfectly steady without falling wherever I put her.

Here's Saige with the mini Breyer horse, Picasso, that came in the Wal-Mart Exclusive Saige Blu-ray/DVD combo set.  This would have to be a toy horse for either mini Saige or 18" Saige, since it's just about the scale of a dog next to mini Saige.

Here are a few more pictures of the lovely mini Saige from our photo shoot.  I am super thrilled with everything about mini Saige, and I would wholeheartedly recommend her as a worthwhile addition to every doll collection.

Bye for now!

Out of Town Doll & Bargain Hunting

We are blessed to be able to go away this week with my husband who is on a business trip.  While he has been at his conference, we have had fun doll and bargain hunting in new places.  So far, we have found 3 new dolls for our collection.  Here are our new additions.

At the mall, we found the Ever After High Dolls at Justice.  They just got in Apple White and Briar Beauty.  Both dolls are so pretty, it was really hard to choose. We decided to get Apple White first.  I really wanted Madeline Hatter too, but the store hasn't gotten her yet.  The dolls were marked $36, but since everything in the store is 40% off right now, she was $21.60.   I'll do a complete review of these dolls soon, but for now check out what a lovely, round face Apple has.

At Toys R Us, we saw some of the new 2013 Monster High items.  There were some of the 13 Wishes dolls, the Music Festival dolls, and we also saw Lagoona's shower and Spectra's new bed.  My daughter wanted the little Howleen doll from 13 Wishes.   She's such a cutie with one folded ear and bright pink hair.

Just down the aisle, something else caught my eye.  I saw an Alice in Wonderland doll, and since I am drawn to storybook character dolls and accessories, I had to get a closer look.

She was a Moxie Girlz Alice in Wonderland.  Now, I have never collected any of the Moxie Girlz dolls before, but I do have 2 of the Moxie Teenz dolls (love the Moxie Teenz articulation and glass like eyes).   This little Moxie Girlz Alice outfit with black and white striped tights was really cute, and she was only $10.99, so I decided to bring her home too.

We decided to eat lunch at Olive Garden.  Yum!!!  My youngest daughter waits with Ruthie for lunch to be served.

I also got a Dr. Who button at Hot Topic in the mall.  It has a picture of the 10th Doctor, David Tennant, and it says "Trust me, I'm the Doctor". The lovely Ruthie models it for me.

We found this cute little chair at a thrift store.  It was only $1.55.

The chair is the perfect size for Apple White.  Doesn't she look adorable sitting in it?

At Wal-Mart, we found an 18" My Life Baseball uniform.  I had never seen this outfit before, but thought it looked so boyish, perfect for an 18" boy doll.  We don't have an 18" boy doll yet, but someday I want to customize a bargain find doll into a boy.  Not knowing when or if I'd find this outfit again, I decided to pick it up to save it until I find a doll to customize.  It has a red and white baseball shirt, baseball cap, shoes with cleats, white socks, and red baseball uniform pants.  It even comes with a doll sized baseball bat.

We will be leaving here on Friday, then we're heading back home to pack again.  My husband, son, and I are leaving Saturday morning with our church youth group, on our way to Fuge camp in Greenville, South Carolina.   It will be a busy couple of weeks!

AG Mini Felicity arrived from eBay

A package arrived containing a doll that I had purchased from eBay last week.  A new addition to our mini doll collection.

Meet Mini Felicity in her Rose Garden dress.  I love the older Felicity in her retired Rose Garden Dress, so I decided to get the mini doll in that outfit.

She is adorable in the Rose Garden dress.  It's a creamy yellow, white and brown stripe with a rose pattern.  There are big poufy white sleeves and a white collar.  She has on a tiny white slip or shift under her dress and knee high cream colored socks.

She has tiny faux leather shoes with an adorable buckle on top.  The shoes slip on and off easily, so you have to be very careful not to lose them.

Her face is lovely with her painted green eyes and open mouth smile.  She has tiny pin curls in the front of her red hair and a ponytail in the back tied with a cream colored ribbon.

She comes with the mini hardcover Meet Felicity book with a tiny dust jacket.

Here she is wandering through the garden.

Back inside, she's getting settled in to her new home and playing with her tiny dollhouse.

I found the tiny dollhouse on American Girl Doll Printouts.  If you would like to make one for your dolls, just click on the link, print out the house on cardstock, cut it out and glue the tabs.  It's really simple to make and it's such a cute accessory for your dolls.

I would highly recommend mini Felicity.  The only minor negative I can think of is that her shoes fall off easily.  She is a lovely little doll though and would be the perfect size as a doll for your 18" American Girls, or she would look great displayed by herself or with the other mini dolls.  We recently got a dollhouse kit, and the mini dolls will be perfect to live in the dollhouse once it's built.

American Girl Hopscotch Hill Logan Doll Review

I would like to introduce you to Logan.

Logan is from American Girl's Hopscotch Hill School.  She was one of the lot of five AG dolls that I recently acquired through Craigslist for $109.  Before finding little Logan, I was not even aware that American Girl made Hopscotch Hill School dolls.  The only thing I knew about Hopscotch Hill was that I had purchased some of the American Girl Hopscotch Hill School books for my daughters at a used bookstore a few years ago.  The books were written by Valerie Tripp.  Here are the books that my girls have.

Logan is 16" tall and super posable.  She has an all vinyl body, instead of a stuffed body like our 18" AG dolls.  Here she is with the Samantha doll that I got in the lot with her and also with our Marie Grace mini doll for size comparison.

She's pretty close in size and body shape to my Little Miss Matched doll from Tonner Toys.  Here are some pictures of them together for size comparison.

You can see that Logan is just a little taller than Little Miss Matched.

Logan comes dressed in denim overalls with a ladybug applique, a red, blue and pink striped long sleeve shirt, white underwear, long blue socks, and cute red boots.  Her blond hair is pulled up in two pigtails.  She has an adorable expressive face with painted blue eyes.

Her neck is marked 2003 Pleasant Company.  According to online research, American Girl completely retired the Hopscotch Hill School line in 2006.

Her head is very posable.  It adds so much more expression and personality to her face.

Her elbows and knees are ball jointed, which makes her capable of all kinds of poses.

Knee joint

Now, for the fun part, you can see how much fun this doll is to pose.  I took so many cute, fun pictures of her, I had a hard time deciding which ones to use.

She can sit criss-cross applesauce.

 She can kneel beautifully.

Look how natural she looks in this reclining pose.

Sitting pretty for a picture.

It's a little harder to get her to stand alone with all her ball joints, but it can be done.

Here she is playing with mini Marie Grace.

Logan is a really fun doll to have around.  She likes to hang out on my desk.

I have to watch her closely though.  She can get into all kinds of trouble!

Thanks for reading about our playful little Hopscotch Hill School girl, Logan.  Please feel free to leave a comment below and tell me if you've ever heard of the Hopscotch Hill School dolls and what you think of them.

Bye!
